Aileen Murphy

Aileen Murphy (b. 1984, Sligo, Ireland) is a Berlin-based painter known for her vivid, large-scale works that merge abstraction with figuration. Murphy studied at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin and graduated from the Städelschule in Frankfurt in 2018. Recent solo exhibitions include Crackers for Lorelei (Amanda Wilkinson Gallery, London, 2025), Wormhole (Galeria Pelaires, Mallorca, 2023), and food that I would feed my lover (Deborah Schamoni, Munich, 2022).  In 2023, she was awarded the Artist Studio Residency at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York.

Aileen Murphy (b. 1984, Sligo, Ireland) is a Berlin-based painter renowned for her vibrant, large-scale works that blend abstraction with figurative elements. Her practice explores the boundaries between abstraction and figuration, creating immersive works that resonate with emotional and psychological depth. Murphy studied at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin, graduating in 2007, and later furthered her education under the mentorship of Amy Sillman and Monika Baer at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, graduating in 2018.

In 2023, she was awarded the Artist Studio Residency at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York City, USA.

 

Her recent solo exhibitions include Crackers for Lorelei at Amanda Wilkinson Gallery, London (2025); Wormhole at Galeria Pelaires, Mallorca (2023); food that I would feed my lover at Deborah Schamoni, Munich (2022); WET TALK at Kevin Kavanagh, Dublin (2022); Flush at Amanda Wilkinson Gallery, London (2020); and PANTING at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin (2019).
