This work was made in the course of 'Draw Without Looking' a performance at Tate Modern in 2013 broadcast live over the internet, the first time that Joan Jonas had performed in this way. Joan Jonas is one of the most significant artists in the history of video and performance and drawing has been an important element of her performances since the early 1970s. She continues to use such mark-making as a device in her current work, including her recent performance at the Museo Nacional del Prado earlier this year and in the installation 'Moving Off the Land II', currently on view at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Madrid.
