Shot almost entirely in a convex mirror, two women, including Jonas, are reflected performing in a bright open field. The women, wearing pink tutus and tall green paper hats and accompanied by Jonas’ prominent white dog, seem to be enacting rituals and playing games. Their movements are animated by changes of speed as they investigate, arrange and rearrange objects: mirrors, paper flags, swords, round and square hammers and metal hoops. Accompanied by Jason Moran’s distinct piano music, the women stage a sword fight before running away in to the distance. Jonas expertly uses the mirror as a framing device. The reflections and angles merge fantasy and reality, creating an abstract and dreamlike world through performance, video, sound and sculpture. The video made as a part of ‘The Shape, The Scent, The Feel of Things’ commissioned by Dia:Beacon, New York, 2005 and 2006. Many props used in the video featured in the live performance.
